Youth Parliament

Youth Parliament is a competition conducted by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan every year, with the noble intent of creating young parliamentarians by giving them a chance to discuss on various important national and regional issues. This competition not only raises awareness about the significant happenings in the country among the students, but also improves their skills of debating and oration and teaches them life skills like collaboration, co-operation, decision making, problem solving and leadership.
Our Vidyalaya was selected as one of the 6 Vidyalayas from Chennai region to participate in this prestigious competition both in its 33rd and 34th editions. Our Vidyalaya emerged as the regional winner in the 33rd edition in the year 2022 and participated in the Zonal level competition hosted by KV Picket, Hyderabad. Eight best speakers were selected from the team of 55 students and they had the rare privilege of attending the award-giving function held at the Parliament Library, New Delhi.
The winners at the Regional level will automatically be selected as one of the participants in the next edition and thus, our students got another opportunity to participate and prove that their earlier victory was not flash in the pan. They excelled themselves in the 34th edition of Youth Parliament also and the Vidyalaya emerged as the winner not only in the Regional level but also at the Zonal level. Both the Regional and the Zonal level competitions were hosted by PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, CRPF Avadi, Chennai. The judges comprised of an MLA / MP, a member from the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Deputy Commissioner, KVS HQ, Delhi. This year too, eight students have been chosen as the best speakers and they will received the individual awards and the trophy for the Vidyalaya in a function which will be held at New Delhi.
It is indeed a golden opportunity for the students to explore their talents and hone those skills which are necessary for them to emerge as good citizens and parliamentarians.
